Day 2: Morning Session - UK Research & Innovation Landscape

BEAM update

The training institute:

  • Provides & facilitates end-to-end professional training opportunities in chemical and bio-analytical measurement science from apprenticeships and under-graduates, through Masters and Doctoral students to full career lifecycle
  • Works in partnership with instrument companies to deliver training modules, practical experience and showcase new technologies
  • Develops distance learning materials, tailored into new learning delivery mechanisms
  • Members training portal
  • Summer schools delivered in partnership with academic centres, industry, national centres and instrument companies
  • Provides & facilitates hands-on instrumental measurement training, with CAMS industrial members and other parties, in the understanding and practice of chemical and bio-analytical measurement  

 

Lucy Johnson (BEAM Chair)

Lucy is a Key Account Manager at LGC working with National Lab customers and networks such as the UK National Measurement Lab for Chemical & Bio-Measurement, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, the Community for Analytical Measurement Science and Knowledge & Skills Exchange Services. 

A Forensic DNA Scientist by trade, Lucy has +15 years of experience working in scientific and commercial roles within forensic and biotech industries. Laterally Lucy has managed technical projects and pilots, as well as leading business development and crisis management activities. Although a scientist at heart with a BSc in Biomedical Science, her expertise lies in stakeholder management and directing novel collaboration opportunities.
